RETCON - RETroactive CONtinuity
The change itself is a "retcon" and the act of writing a retcon is called "retconning".
Retconning is the attempt to maintain consistency across the Canon and fix Continuity and other errors in the simplest way possible.
Retcon Reasoning :
The images on WHOPIX are a sort of Visual Retcon; getting rid of question mark collars, giving Colin Baker a blue outfit, colourising B&W Screengrabs etc.
So whereas a lot of WHOPIX is Retconning pictures, DR WHO 2 is all about Retconning words.
Retcon Types :
ADDITION - fills in missing details

The adding of new information or the changing of previously established facts in an existing work of serial fiction.
Why?
The main inspiration behind WHOPIX was "What would the Fifth Doctor look like without that stupid stick of celery and those bloody question marks on his shirt collar?" Infinitely better is the answer. Visually the look of JNT`s Doctors is not just naff but more importantly lacks realism. Worse still, Drs 5,6 &7 are completely inconsistent with either their predecessors or succesors. They just don`t look right. And seeing those 2007 Children In Need pix of Davison & Tennant together only reinforces that view. [The Retconned versions at WHOPIX look so much better]
